Enkele interessante weetjes… over de beestjes!
Veel van onze harige, gevederde en geschubde vrienden hebben een staart... maar ze gebruiken deze echter niet allemaal op dezelfde manier.
De staart van de aap kan dienstdoen als een kleine haak waarmee hij van tak tot tak kan springen.
Vogels kunnen dankzij hun staart in de lucht draaien en vissen krijgen met hun staart de voortstuwing die ze nodig hebben om te zwemmen.
De staart kan ook gebruikt worden als zelfverdedigingswapen zoals bij de leguaan die zijn staart als zweep gebruikt tegen zijn tegenstanders.
En een staart kan ook als verleidingsmiddel worden gebruikt: de pauw maakt radslagen met zijn staart om indruk te maken op vrouwtjes.
Onze katten gebruiken hun staart om zichzelf in evenwicht te houden tijdens hun acrobatische toeren. Terwijl de hondjes er ons al hun sympathie mee tonen.
